No one will know if forme Electricity Board’s Chairman M.M.C. Ferdinando was hungry and stressed out when he was in front of the Parliament’s Committee on Public Enterprise and told them that President Rajapaksa told him on November 2021 to go ahead with the Adanis power project However, now evidence is emerging that M.M.C. Ferdinando was asked to resign and he has been instructed to give in to Aadanis power project proposal.
It seems that there is something more than hunger and stress.
according to the Sunday Times, Official documents show that former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board’s then Chairman M.M.C. Ferdinando to recognize the project of M/s Adani Green Energy “as a proposal from the Indian Government to the Government of Sri Lanka.
Gota’s Denial:
The current crisis in foreign direct investment has been sighted by the former Primeminister
to give approval to Adani’s Green Energy to develop the 500MW wind and solar projects in Mannar and Pooneryn.
Adani is supposed to have agreed to invest heavily in this project as a direct foreign investment.
Mr Ferdinando who spilled the beans on the instructions he received from the president resigned while backtracking on his statement saying that he was hungry and stressed out.
President Rajapaksa categorically denied “authorization to award this project to any specific person or entity”.without mentioning Adani.
Next surfaced Ferdinando’s resignation. According to the JVP’s Sunil Handunnetthi Ferdinando was forced out.
