A post on X (formerly Twitter) linked to Donald Trump alleged that “George Soros received $260,000,000.00 from USAID and used this money to spread chaos, change governments, and for personal gain in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, India, the UK, and the US.” These claims have intensified scrutiny over US foreign aid, especially as the Trump administration froze USAID’s budget.

Funding of Soros-Affiliated Organizations
Reports suggest that over the past 15 years, USAID has allocated more than $270 million to organizations connected to Soros. One such group, the East-West Management Institute, has collaborated with Soros’ Open Society Foundations and received USAID funding. This has raised concerns about the US government’s role in shaping political movements worldwide.

Elon Musk has also weighed in, supporting Trump’s administration in exposing USAID’s funding of what they describe as “woke and controversial” projects. Musk’s involvement has further fueled Republican criticism that US foreign aid is being used to influence regime changes and political dynamics abroad.

In India, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has long accused Soros of backing opposition groups and financing critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP leaders claim that Soros’ initiatives are aimed at destabilizing the Indian government and interfering in national politics.
