Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila and Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa who have been critical of the government have been sacked. S.B. Dissanayake who has been critical of the government has received the portfolio of industries.
Pavithra Wanniarachchi has been sworn in as the Minister of Power, Gamini Lokuge as Minister of Energy and Dilum Amunugama as the Minister of Transport.
The sacking of Udaya Gammanpila and Wimal Weerawansa marks the beginning of a new campaign that may join hands with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party led by former President Maithreepala Sirisena.
Meanwhile, Prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksha who is considered a strategist with a reconciliatory approach will have to work hard to keep the party together and make sure that voters don’t float towards the Alliance which Weerawansa and Gammanpila may be associated with.
