Trump safe but bloodied, and attacker dead, after shots fired at rally

 

Donald Trump has thanked God for saving his life and vowed he will never ‘allow Evil to win’.

The former president said he would remain ‘Defiant in the face of Wickedness’ hours after being shot on stage at a rally in Pennsylvania.

His would-be assassin has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who opened fire from a nearby rooftop

 

Secret Service under scrutiny as Oversight Committee summons director

The Oversight Committee – the main investigative board of the US House of Representatives – has summoned US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify at a hearing on 22 July.

“Americans demand answers about the assassination attempt of President Trump,” the panel said in a statement on social media.

At a news conference earlier, FBI special agent Kevin Rojek said “it is surprising” that the gunman was able to open fire on the stage before the Secret Service killed him.

But when asked if there was a failure of security, he said they were “not gonna make that assessment” with an active investigation.

The Secret Service was not at the news conference.

 

 

 

Shooter fired multiple shots from “elevated position” outside of Trump rally, Secret Service says

 

Witnesses described seeing a man armed with a rifle climbing on a roof of a building 130 yards away and law enforcement recovered an AR-style rifle from the scene.

The suspect fired at least eight shots from outside the security perimeter in an incident that had sparked immediate calls for an an investigation into the security failure.

Donald Trump has been shot in the ear as shots were fired at the former president at a rally in Pennsylvania.

 

Donald Trump’s eldest son laid the blame for Saturday’s rally shooting at the feet of the radical left but promised that it would not stop his father from campaigning.

 

Trump was injured in the shooting. He dropped to the ground and was swarmed by Secret Service agents after shots rang out while he spoke onstage, and he had blood on his face as he was rushed away.
The Secret Service said Trump is safe and under protective measures. A spokesperson said Trump is “fine” after the “heinous act.”
The shooting is being investigated as an attempted assassination, according to law enforcement officials.
President Joe Biden denounced the violence during remarks Saturday night and said in a statement earlier that he’s “grateful” Trump is safe.

 

 

Trump grabbed at the side of his face and blood spattered across his cheek as several popping sounds were heard.

The former president quickly pumped a fist at the crowd to show his supporters he was not severely injured, as Secret Service agents raced to the stage to race him away.
Secret Service agents have rushed former President Donald Trump off stage after loud noises rang out at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Footage showed Trump ducking as sharp cracks broke out.

He was quickly swarmed by Secret Service agents, who dragged him into a vehicle.

Trump appeared to raise a fist as he was led off stage.
