Informed sources say that current party leader Maiythreepala Sirisena is not very comfortable with the move, and talks have fallen apart.
CBK also said she had not taken any decision to take up the leadership of the Leadership Council of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, as reported.
CBK has also dismissed reports of her support to candidates at the upcoming presidential election, as reported by various media platforms.
“She has not decided to support any candidate so far,” a statement issued by Ms. Kumaratunge’s office said.
CBK played an important role in 2015 which made way for Sirisena to win the presidency, and later she was removed from party leadership.
