Thai campaign Silenced

A group of Thai campaigners who renewed their campaign to get back the two Thai elephants from Sri Lanka during the visit of Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin have failed, but they in no mood to halt the campaign.
The Diplomatic Mission of Thailand in Colombo  took care for the issue not to surface during the Prime Ministers vist to Colombo ,which coincided with Independence day celebrations

The two Thai elephants gifted to Sri Lanka from Thailand and the campaign to returnrn elephents gifted to Sri Lanka commenced after a elephant at the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya had to be returned after allegations of ill treatment.
The Thai campaigners are calling for, Thai Raja, who is currently cared for by the Dalada Maligawa, and Kandula, who is residing in Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.
The campaigners wowed that they will resort to international legal processes if the elephants are not returned to retire in Thailand

The social media page claims that the two tuskers are heavily being used in Sri Lanka; therefore, the tuskers need to be brought back.
Meanwhile, Dalada Maligwa’s elephant officer, Pradeep Niayanpalawa who is very much disturbed with the campaigners claims said there is no issue with  Thai Raja and he is being well taken care of.
He added that both Thai elephants were used only for peraheras.
The Diyawadana Nilame said that getting back the elephants that have been gifted is a diplomatic and political matter.
Many animal right campaigners say that having to return the elephant from Bellanvila was incident that put the nation in to shame and the incident is not without consequence
