Ravi Wijegunaratne, presented ten eye corneas to Brigadier (Dr.) Waquar, Director of the Pakistan Military Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi. These corneas, donated by deceased Sri Lankans in a final act of generosity, will offer the precious gift of sight to those in need.
Sri Lanka’s commitment to improving lives in Pakistan continues. The country’s High Commissioner, Admiral (Ret.) Ravi Wijegunaratne, recently donated 10 corneas to the Pakistan Military Eye Hospital. This latest contribution brings the total number of Sri Lankan-donated corneas to 26,215. The corneas will be used to restore sight to Pakistani military personnel injured in terrorist attacks, particularly those involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The sight-saving donations will also extend to retired military personnel and their families.
