Sri Lanka has won two elections at the United Nations.
Mr. Prasad Kariyawasam, a former ambassador to the United States, has been elected to the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (CMW). He won 44 out of 57 votes.
Sri Lanka was also elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It won 144 out of 188 votes. Sri Lanka last served on the board from 2015 to 2019.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha was elected to the UNESCO Board of Directors, which was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, this week. He received 188 He will have the opportunity to represent the country from 2024 to 2027.
