By Leader of the National People’s Power (NPP) party, Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) accused the speaker of Sri Lanka’s Parliament Mahinda Yapa for unreasonably exploiting his position.
During the no confidence motion against the speaker AKD said that he is a parasite that acts on behalf of the government.
“He has brought his entire family into Parliament,” AKD alleged that four family members were employed in the Speaker’s office and at times they were included in to delegations that travelled abroad.
“An entire Yapa generation is here, while Yapa’s sons was the Development Lotteries Board chairman. AKD said that the Speaker ‘will have to leave office any how in six months’ , hinting that there is little chance for the no confidence motion to succeed this time as the ruling party majority will defeat the no confidence motion.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva had different accusation as for him, the speaker has been giving too much time for the opposition and now the no confidence motion is a instance of ‘biting the hand that feeds them’.
