SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa Welcomes Daughter, Raises Concerns About Healthcare Equity
Sajith Premadasa, leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), recently announced the birth of his daughter, expressing both joy and concern about healthcare accessibility in Sri Lanka.
However, the news surrounding the baby’s arrival has been overshadowed by controversy regarding an antibacterial vaccine administered to her. Premadasa revealed that the paediatrician recommended the vaccine at a cost of around Rs. 7,500, prompting him to question its availability in government hospitals. Upon learning that the vaccine is not routinely administered in public healthcare facilities, Premadasa expressed his commitment to addressing this disparity.
Speaking at a political gathering, Premadasa pledged to ensure equal access to healthcare for all children under his future leadership. “I will guarantee that children treated in government hospitals receive the same care as those in private institutions,” he declared
