The newly appointed High Commissioner-designate of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Singapore,, Senarath Dissanayake assumed duties at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore on January 8, 2024
His assumption of duties was marked by a simple ceremony which commenced with religious observances and chanting of Seth Pirith conducted by the Maha Sangha.
Addressing the staff, High Commissioner-designate Dissanayake outlined his priorities and plans for further strengthening the longstanding and multifaceted bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Singapore. He emphasized the need for the promotion of economic cooperation, particularly further elevation of trade, investments,, and tourism ties between the two countries and providing an efficient consular service by the High Commission towards the Sri Lankans in Singapore.
High Commissioner-designate Dissanayake has served in various capacities in the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in his career spanning 23 years. He has previously served as the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Australia and in different diplomatic assignments at Sri Lanka Missions in Geneva, Brussels, The Hague, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
Before he was appointed the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore, Dissanayake served as the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from January 2022. High Commissioner-Designate Dissanayake is an alumnus of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
