During the candid conversation, the Dabangg star shared a chilling mid-air experience that could have ended in tragedy. The terrifying incident unfolded while he was traveling from Sri Lanka with actress Sonakshi Sinha and his younger brother, Sohail Khan, after attending the prestigious IIFA Awards.

45 Minutes of Chaos in the Sky

Recounting the harrowing ordeal, Salman described how their return flight took a dangerous turn due to extreme turbulence. Unlike the usual brief jolts experienced during air travel, this turbulence lasted an agonizing 45 minutes. While most passengers were visibly shaken, Sohail Khan remained completely unfazed—sleeping through the entire ordeal!

“We were flying back from the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards held in Sri Lanka. The atmosphere on board was cheerful—everyone was laughing and talking. Suddenly, the plane started shaking violently. At first, we thought it was just routine turbulence, but soon, the entire cabin fell silent as the turbulence intensified,” Salman recalled.

“Even the Pilot Looked Nervous!”

The Bollywood icon admitted his anxiety peaked when he saw the pilots and flight attendants visibly disturbed. “I glanced at the flight attendants, and one of them had her eyes shut, praying under her breath. That’s when reality hit me—this was serious! Pilots usually maintain their composure, but even they looked tense. That’s when the oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling. I was in shock because I had only ever seen that happen in movies!”

Just as passengers began to calm down, the nightmare resumed. “The turbulence finally stopped after what felt like an eternity. Sonakshi Sinha and her mother, who were also on board, sighed in relief. But just as we thought it was over, the plane started shaking violently again, this time for another ten minutes. You could hear a pin drop—nobody even dared to breathe too loudly.”

From Fear to ‘Acting Cool’

As the plane finally landed safely, the passengers’ behavior changed instantly. “The moment we landed, it was as if nothing had happened! Suddenly, everyone started walking with confidence, acting as if they hadn’t been terrified just moments before. It was hilarious to see how quickly people switched from panic mode to playing it cool,” Salman said with a chuckle.
