Government Employees’ Minimum Basic Salary to Increase by Rs. 15,750 Under 2025 Budget Proposals
As per the 2025 budget proposals, the minimum basic salary of a government employee will be increased by Rs. 15,750. This increment will be implemented in three phases, concluding in 2027.

Accordingly, government employees will receive a minimum basic salary increase of Rs. 5,975 within this year. Additionally, the Rs. 7,500 allowance currently provided to public sector employees will be incorporated into the basic salary from April 2025.

For an employee currently receiving a minimum basic salary of Rs. 24,250, the Rs. 15,750 salary increment will be structured as follows:

After deducting the already existing Rs. 7,500 allowance, the net increase in the basic salary will be Rs. 8,250.
Out of this, Rs. 5,000 will be added to the basic salary from April 2025.
Additionally, 30% of the remaining increment, amounting to Rs. 975, will also be added from April 2025.
As a result, a government employee currently earning a minimum basic salary of Rs. 24,250 will see an increase of Rs. 5,975 in their salary starting from April 2025.

The remaining portion of the salary increment will be added to the basic salary in two phases, in January 2026 and January 2027.

This salary increment will apply proportionally to other government salary scales as well.
