“Ranil’s Ferrari Won’t Go with L-Boarders!”

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with a group of UNP-supporting professionals this week at his office on Flower Road, Colombo. The burning question? Will Ranil be making a political comeback by entering Parliament later this year?

One attendee voiced what many were thinking: “Sir, we believe it would be good if you return to Parliament.”

Ranil’s response? Classic Ranil. With a smirk, he shot back, “Why should someone who has a licence to drive a Ferrari spend time with those wearing ‘L’ boards?” The room erupted in laughter, but outside the walls of Flower Road, the irony wasn’t lost on many.

After all, the last time Ranil hit the road politically, his party skidded out of control. He lost his own seat in Parliament, reduced the once-mighty UNP to almost nothing, and then came a humiliating third in the Presidential election.

One observer, clearly unimpressed, put it bluntly:
“The Ferrari might be a great car, but the driver is worse than a Maruti’s!”

With no seat, no power, and no real party left, is Ranil dreaming of the fast lane while being stuck in reverse?
