By The Court of Appeal up healed a death sentence in a raging incident that caused the death of junior student Selvanayagam Varapragash who was an Engineering Faculty student at Peradeniya University in 1997
The accused Balendran Prasad Sadeeskaran who never appeared in courts has now requested his lawyers to appeal.
The victim Selvanayagam Varapragash was rsgrd inhumanly and passed away after a few months. The accused and victim are both from the engineering faculty of the University of Peradeniya.
Ragging continues in most government universities and several private institutions with some efforts being made to contain the problem although there is hesitation from administrations to get involved
