A nuber of Parlimentarians have resigned from the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) in protest of the Chairmanship of Rohitha Abeygunawardan ,a controversial parliamentarian .
Dayasiri Jayasekara, Charitha Herath, Hesha Vithanage, Nalin Bandara, Shanakkiyam Rasaputhram and S.M. Marikkar, opposition parliamentarians have resinged from the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) saying that they are not comfortable with the Chairmanship of Rohitha Abeygunawardana .
MPs Dayasiri Jayasekara, Hesha Vithanage, Nalin Bandara and Shanakkiyam Rasaputhram told a news conference at the Parliament Complex that they have resigned from the COPE.
They said they could not function as the members of the COPE under its current Chairman
SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne resigned from the COPE yesterday. The alternative is to have more ruling party members in the COPE which will make it less credible
