A Sri Lankan who has recently returned from Tanzaniya has been detected with the South African variant of the coronavirus.
According to Dr. Chandima Jeewandara,. Director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of the Sri Jayewardenepura University the South African variant is highly transmissible.
The detection was made while the patient had been admitted to the quarantine Centre.
