A bail application filed by former national Cricketers Sachithra Senanayake seeking an order to prevent his arrest was rejected on March 2 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
Senanayake allegedly attempted to fix matches in the 2020 Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament which was held last year.
The complaint is being probed by the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU as well as Sri Lanka Cricket’s anti-corruption unit.
Senanayake reportedly had tried to secure a player’s support to fix matches.
The allegations have been strongly denied by Senanayake who made a valuable contribution to the national team playing in one day internationals and T 20 matches while playing one Test match.
He represented the country at 49 One Day internationals taking 53 wickets and 24 T20 Internationals taking 25 wickets and his best remembered to scoring a six in the final to win one of the matches.
