By NEWRO Meat Products which has been in the business for over a decade won at the Lanka Business Awards 2022 held recently at the Grand Oriental Hotel in Colombo. NEWRO Meat Products (Pvt) Ltd is a chicken processing and marketing company in Sri Lanka and their products are marketed countrywide under the brand name of “NEWRO”.
The Director Mr. Sisira Kumara commenced his business on a small scale in 1986 with 5000 layers. A few years later he joined Nelna Farms as a contract grower and gained skills in broiler chicken rearing. Mr. Sirira worked for ten years from 1992 to 2002 with Nelna farm as a contract grower. In 2003 he left contract growing and commenced his own operation with 10,000 birds.
At present, the company produces more than 600,000 Kg for a month, and demand for the products is being increased regularly
