SriLankan Airlines and Korean Air have officially launched a new codeshare partnership effective March 15, 2024, offering expanded travel choices and connectivity for passengers travelling between Colombo and Seoul.
Richard Nuttall, CEO of Sri Lankan Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to initiate our inaugural codeshare agreement with Korean Air, enhancing connectivity between Colombo and Seoul. The demand for travel between these two cities continues to surpass our expectations, and this partnership will facilitate our growth on this route efficiently, offering passengers more reasons to opt for Sri Lankan Airlines.”
Under this partnership, Sri Lankan Airlines will codeshare on Korean Air flights between Singapore and Seoul Incheon, allowing passengers to seamlessly travel on a single ticket between Colombo and Incheon via Singapore. Conversely, Korean Air will codeshare on Sri Lankan Airlines flights between Colombo and Seoul Incheon, Singapore, Chennai (India), and Male (Maldives).
Sri Lankan Airlines operates a twice-weekly direct service between Colombo and Incheon. Through this collaboration, passengers can now enjoy daily flights between Colombo and Seoul via Singapore, tapping into Korean Air’s extensive Far Eastern network.
Furthermore, passengers of Korean Air gain access to SriLankan Airlines’ robust network in the Indian Subcontinent, with comprehensive coverage across India and the Maldives. SriLankan Airlines operates nearly 100 weekly flights across nine Indian cities and 23 flights per week to Male and Chennai.
The codeshare flights are available for booking through the online reservation systems and sales outlets of both SriLankan Airlines and Korean Air, as well as through external travel agencies. This partnership marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Sri Lanka and South Korea, promising passengers increased flight options, seamless connections, and an elevated travel experience, thereby strengthening the ties between the two nations.
