National Organiser of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has sid that he will be contesting the Presidential Election, said Basil Rajapaksha .
Dhammika Perera who always said that he is willing to contest Presidential elections on a SLPP has now pulled out of the race sighting personal reasons.
SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa has been calling SLPP parliamentarians and requested them to support Namal Rajapaksa but many have indicated to him that they have no other option than crossing over to Ranil Wickramsingha.
Currently the SLPP has scored low on opinion polls and it is going to be a difficult campaign if Namal Rajapaksha decides to safeguard his corner .
Insiders close to the Rajapaksha family say that Mahinda Rajapaksha still holds the view that they should be supporting Ranil Wickramasingha.
There area number of court cases pending against members of the Rajapaksha family.
The FCID filed money laundering charges against Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, for purchasing shares from HelloCorp for the sum of Rs. 45 million.
The FCID filed charges after it was found that Rajapaksa, along with several others have made the share purchase after securing the funds, which falls under the ‘money laundering’ category.
