By Popular Sri Lankan actor and Anuradhapura District Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Uddika Premarathna’s stepping down from parliament is some what a mystery as the real reason is yet to be known.
In his reignition he said that it is not possibale to fulfil his political aspirations within the current system.
In September 2023, unidentified gunmen opened fire at MP Premaratne’s vehicle near his father’s residence in Anuradhapura.
The parliamentarian said that he was not satisfied with the investigations in to the shooting matter.

Prior to resigning from parliament he said that he would sitin parliament as independent member.
MP Uddika Premaratne entered Parliament after contesting the 2020 Parliamentary Election under the SLPP representing the Anuradhapura District.
Premaratne, who is a member of the National Freedom Front (NFF) led by MP Wimal Weerwansa,
There have been media reports that Uddika Premaratne is planning to leave the country with his family for security reasons.
The efforts of Lanka Newsline to reach out to Uddika Premaratne were not successful.
