More to Leave Ranil ?

Four State Ministers have been removed from their positions with immediate effect by President Ranil Wickremesinghe because they have failed to support him.

Political commentators say that there is a possibility of many other’s from the SLPP who joined him to teturn back and support Namal Rajapaksha.

It is very likely if Sajith Premadasa or Anura Kumara Dissanayaka becomes President parliament will be dissolved and a new cabinet will be appointed.

Anura Kumara Dissanayaka said that there is the possibility of the three JVP parliamentarians be appointed  as Cabinet Ministers  and the government will continue in the event he becomes President.

The removed Ministers are Premalal Jayasekara, who served as the State Minister of Ports & Aviation Services, State Minister of Power & Energy Indika Anuruddha, State Minister of Agriculture Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva, State Minister of Highways Siripala Gamlath.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the decision was made under the authority granted by Article 47(3)(a) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

All the removed individuals have announced their support for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP)’s Presidential Candidate, Namal Rajapaksa.

Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva was recently appointed as the Galle District leader while Indika Anuruddha was appointed as the Gampaha District leader of the SLPP

New Alliance

A group of SLPP MPs together with several other parties today formed the Podujana Eksath Nidahas Peramuna (PENP) led by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Minister Ramesh Pathirana will be the General Secretary of the new alliance. The symbol of the party is the cup. It is speculated that this new alliance has been formed because those who left the Rajapaksha camp are uncertain about their political future with Ranil Wickramasingha.

Allies of the new alliance include a section of the SLPP, the MEP, TMVP, EPDP, National Congress, Lanka Jathika Estate Workers Union, United Peoples Party, SLMP and the Deshapremi Janatha Balawegaya.
