An intense struggle to gain presidential council has begun while the Committee headed by a former Chief Justice has been able to screen out many applicants.
Informed sources have indicated to Lanka Newsline that most have been disqualified as only 34 out of 300 lawyers have the required qualifications.
The president is supposed to select only ten of them to be named as a presidential council. However, the President has discretionary powers to name whoever he thinks is fit to be a presidential council.
