The Kotmale Hill Climb will commence after a twenty-year lapse on 1st and 2nd May 2021 made a spectacular launch for the event in Kandy on 13th March.
The President of the Kandy Senkadagala Motor Sport Club Thusitha de Silva outlined the event and said that they are not inviting spectators due to the present prevailing Health regulations, but they are confining only two for those competing in the events.
Plans have been laid to resuscitate a Motor spots Hill climb at Kotmale, scheduled for the first and second of May 2021. by the newly formed Kandy Senkadagla Motor Sports Club, but with experienced drivers and riders. From the look of the arrangements, the event would be full of thrills after a lapse of time. In fact, according to the Secretary of the Club Poorna Dhanayake, the event should have been held in June last year with the Negombo Motor Sports Club, but due to the Health situation in the country, the event was postponed.
This event in May is been organized by Kandy Senkadagala Motor Sports Club in collaboration with Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club.
There would be two special Awards at this event for the fastest racing driver in memory of the late Ananda Krishnaratne and Nimal Chandrasoma.
The President of Senkadagala Motor Sports Club Thusita de Silva who heads the event has the backing of other members of the club such as its Secretary Poora Dhanayake and Treasurer Dhammika Bambaradeniya.
At this event a number of cars, such as Modified Cars ,Nissan March, Mini 7,, Ford Lasers, SLGT up to 3500cc, Subaru Legacy, Formular cars, truck and Jeeps, motorbikes from 250cc to 1000cc, Volkswagen Beetles, Classic Cars and Minis would have their participation.
They have not forgotten the environmental aspect of the country and it is also scheduled to have a ‘ Tree ‘ planting campaign, with invitees, participants would be welcomed to participate in this event.
