Kandy Chief Magistrate D.Mudunkotuwa ordered surety bail in one hundred fifty thousand on fifteen suspects which included a former Chairman of ‘ Laksala ” Sujeewa Palliyaguru and his father in Law a businessman. Puniyaratne on an allegation of forcibly entering a building and damaging the building.
Fifteen persons were taken into custody by Katuastota Police on a complaint by the alleged owner of the building on Katugastota Road which is alleged to have been leased out to the Suspect Palliyaguru on an alleged transaction of one hundred and fifty million rupees. The complainant alleges that the accused entered his premises forcibly having paid only an advance.
The suspects are alleged to have entered the building ransacked the Building of furniture and thrown them out It was also alleged that the wife of the owner was assaulted and she had entered Katugastota hospital. subsequently.
Subsequently, the suspects were produced before the Magistrate and awaited an Identification Parade on the second of March. But the Identification parade was postponed as the witness did not attend Court. The Identification Parade was fixed for the ninth and it was held.. Three persons were Identified by the wife of the complainant and her son.
Thereafter the Kandy Chief Magistrate ordered Security Bail on the suspects.
The case is to be called on the 6th of July 2021.
