An Identification Parade on 9th March

An Identification Parade has been ordered by the Kandy Magistrate over the incident at Katugastota on 23rd February, where a former Laksala Chairman and another Businessman with 13 have been taken into custody by Katugastota police on the directions of the Kandy Senior Superintendent Sudath Masinghe.

Following this arrest, the suspects were produced before a Magistrate and remanded till the second of March for an Identification parade, but since the witnesses were not present the Identifcaion parade was postponed to the 9th of March ( Tuesday )

According to information, a Building at Kataugastota with four floors is alleged to have been leased out to the former Laksala Chairman at five million rupees. But, since there was only a part payment the premises is alleged to have not been handed over fully.

On this issue, it is alleged that the suspects had entered the building, ransacked the furniture, and caused damage, and also had caused grievous hurt to the wife of the owner and another who was hospitalized.

Katugastoa Police continues with the investigation in this case.

Senior Attorney Nanda Senanayake appeared for the suspects.
