By In a formal communication to Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has questioned his lack of support for SLPP MP Premnath Dolawatte’s Private Members Bill on decriminaliseing same-sex relationships.
The Bill aims to amend sections 365 and 365A of the Penal Code, which have historically been used to criminalize consensual relationships, including same-sex relationships. The HRCSL advocates for the repeal or amendment of these sections.
