The tragic shooting incident in Ambalangoda on 10 November 2024 has left the community in shock and mourning. Two gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead a man and a woman who were travelling on a motorcycle in the Urawatte area along the Galle-Colombo main road. The victims, both aged 46, were residents of Kuligoda in the Ambalangoda area. The shooting happened in broad daylight, and preliminary investigations suggest that a T-56 assault rifle was used.
The Ambalangoda Police have identified one suspect, a resident of the Batapola Police Division, but the suspect has fled the area. The police are seeking public assistance to apprehend the suspect and have requested anyone with information to contact them via the provided hotlines.
