Could the richest man in Sri Lanka walk into Parliament with clean hands after declaring his assets?
The call is been made by a former governor, Keerthi Tennakoon, He has asked Election Commission Chairman, Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa, to delay acceptance of businessman Dhammika Perera’s nomination to Parliment, as an SLPP National List MP, until the EC receives his asset declaration.
Dhammika Perera’s investments span across included casinos, banks, hotels and shipping.
The business tycoon has said that he will give up positions held in his business ventures and enter Parliament. Dhammika Perera is tipped to receive the newly created Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion.
Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, BoI, Sri Lanka Telecom, Registrar of Persons, Immigration and Emigration, Colombo Port City Commission, Sri Lanka Standards Institute, Information and Technology Agency and Lotus Tower are listed under the newly created Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion.
