Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Andres Marcelo Gonzalez Garrido, stated that the Cuban government is prioritizing efforts to support pharmaceutical production in Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador made this remark during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office today (15), while conveying the Cuban government’s greetings to Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
Key issues were deliberated, including the enhancement of the nearly 65-year diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Cuba, the revival of mosquito control initiatives under Cuban assistance, and the provision of scholarships in medical and sports education for Sri Lankan training institutes and universities.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya conveyed her appreciation for Cuba’s unwavering support, acknowledging the country’s resilience despite recent economic hardships. She also extended an official invitation to the Cuban Prime Minister to visit Sri Lanka.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri, Additional Secretary Mahinda Gunaratne, along with senior officials from the Cuban government.
