Crowds are converging on St Peter’s Square

Crowds are converging on St Peter’s Square following Pope Francis’s death, and the Vatican has announced his body could be publicly displayed as early as Wednesday.

The 88-year-old died just after 7:30am on Monday, local time, prompting thousands of mourners to flock to the Catholic Church’s headquarters to pay their respects.
