A Large number of containers are held at the Colombo port a customs officer said that they need to ensure that banned items are not smuggled in and the checking has been intensified and as a result clearing has been delayed.
According to the Sunday times, more than 50 containers carrying flour, cosmetic items, turmeric, and food items imported by local traders have reportedly been held up at the Colombo Port. Importers said to the Lanka news line that they are planning to make representations to the authorities.
