Sri Lanka’s coconut prices continued continuously for the last five weeks and this trend is to continue until early next year.
This week’s gain has been around five percent with the average price for 1,000 nuts rising to 65,387.84 from 62,037.99 a week earlier.
Sri Lanka’s Coconut Development Authority said that export earnings have been increasing.
Exports of coconut-based products have risen by 7 percent in the period from January to August.
The earnings of 573 million dollars have increased from 537 million dollars a year earlier
Coconut accounts for approximately 12% of all agricultural produce in Sri and about 2,500 -3000 million nuts are produced per year.
