The police are following the trail of a number of drug dealers after the killing of Wasantha Perera, alias “Club Wasantha,” and two others. Several persons, including singer K. Sujeewa, have been hospitalized after the shooting that took place at Oruwala Junction in Athurugiriya.
Singer K. Sujeewa, who was shot in her legs, is in a stable condition, said a spokesperson of the Colombo National Hospital. Surendra Perera’s wife was also shot and later admitted to Homagama Hospital.
An onlooker said that two gunmen carrying T-56 weapons entered the tattoo studio that was being opened. The shootout had the hallmarks of a contract killing organized by the underworld. The police believe that the attack was organized from abroad. A revolver was found in the handbag of Surendra Perera’s wife, police said.
The injured were admitted to the Athurugiriya and Homagama hospitals. Police said the shooting incident occurred when singer K. Sujeewa and others were attending the opening of a tattoo studio. They also said Club Wasantha’s wife was among the injured. Meanwhile, hospital sources said that singer Sujeewa and another individual were transferred for further treatment.

The colour of these ammunition are different from normal ammunition, Police stated, saying that they are going to submit it to the Government Analyst to know if any liquid has been coated on them. Police suspect a gold liquid has been coated on them.
