News that there is a serious deadlock between the Central Bank and the Finance Ministry has been made public by Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
Cabinet Minister Wimal Weerawansa noted that Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has not been able to successfully handle the current crisis situation.
The Minister was speaking at an event held today where 11 political parties came together to issue a policy statement to address the national issue which was speculated as a move to challenge the current government leadership.
There is a high possibility of the SLFP moving away from the ruling alliance. While some other small parties may join a alliance.
Weerawansa said that despite the economic crisis in the country’, Basil Rajapaksa has not had direct talks with the Governor of the Central Bank for six months.

Also the Governor of the Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal had said that he had written nine times to the Finance Minister on the economic issue but did not receive a response said Minister Weerawansa.
