The Education Ministry had to announce that aesthetic subjects would remain in the curriculum after a large amount of social media posts appeared that these subjects would be scraped off from the curriculum. The education ministry said that aesthetic subjects are an essential part of general education in the proposed education reforms.
Accordingly, an announcement has been issued by the Ministry regarding aesthetic subjects.
Aesthetic subjects can be studied further in junior secondary education, senior secondary education, and at the GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level said a spokesperson from the Ministry of Education.
Aesthetic subjects will remain for students who sit for the A/L exams.
Aesthetic subjects encourage students to think creatively and approach problems from different perspectives.
Improves Critical Thinking: Analyzing art and music helps develop critical thinking skills as students interpret and critique different forms of expression.
Art and aesthetics are not mere decorations to life; they are the essence of what makes us human, giving us the means to understand, appreciate, and transform the world around us
Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” This quote emphasizes the importance of art in providing emotional and mental cleansing, helping individuals to rejuvenate and see the world with fresh eyes.
