Takeing into account the current crisis situation more than 180 leading economists and development experts from around the world have made a request to lenders to write off Sri Lankas foreign debt Sri Lanka has a debt of $52bn .The country owes 40 percent to private creditors and 52 percent to Thomas Piketty who wrote the bestseller Capital, Harvard University economist Dani Rodrik and Indian economist Jayati Ghosh are among those who have called calling for debt cancellation .The “Debt Justice” campaign group, a global movement to “end unjust debt” have promised to push further.
